LINKED IN – TIP OF THE MONTH

Try Out the New Video Feature on LinkedIn
August’s tip is to try out the new video feature on LinkedIn (once you get it).

You can’t help hearing about video these days. Trends suggest it’s the now and the future of messaging, branding and engagement. So, it’s no surprise that LinkedIn (LI) has finally jumped on the bandwagon. They just started rolling out a new feature (though very few people have it yet), that lets you easily create a native video to share as an update on LI. It is coming to the mobile app first and later to the website. I don’t see it yet on my phone, but I know once I see a video camera icon alongside the camera icon, it will mean I can try it out. The same goes for you.

One huge plus of this new feature is that you can see data related to your video. Not only will you see the usual likes, shares and comments, but you can also see data about the viewers, such as job title and location. This makes it unique and better suited for the B2B audience than other video-focused social media sites like Snapchat and Instagram. Those platforms are generally more appropriate for personal videos, while LinkedIn is still the best platform for videos tied to professional content.

Viveka von Rosen broke the news with a LI blog post (including video). She shares some facts, stats and tips about using this new feature. When you get it, check it out! I know I will be.
